Dr. Susan Nichols

Dr. Susan Nichols is in her 28th year as an educator and has dedicated her career to fostering strong, supportive, and high‑achieving school communities. A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, she graduated from Davie High School before earning her undergraduate degree in Spanish/French Education (K–12) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Nichols began her teaching career at E.B. Erwin High School in Birmingham, Alabama, where she taught Spanish.

In 2002, Dr. Nichols moved to Charlotte and joined Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as a Spanish teacher at Butler High School. Her passion for leadership and continuous improvement led her to pursue the Master of School Administration program at UNC Charlotte, which she completed in 2009. She later earned her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University in 2014.

Now in her fourteenth year as a principal, Dr. Nichols is recognized for her strong leadership, data-informed decision-making, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student success. Her work is guided by a belief in the power of relationships, high expectations, and the creation of safe and supportive environments where all students can thrive.
